Our Mission Statement
- To enable people with physical disabilities to participate in, and contribute to dance sessions in an integrated community setting on a equal basis with other dancers, regardless of race, religion or gender.
- To develop the work of Chance to Dance which builds self-esteem and a sense of or responsibility through dance, enabling all participants to take risks in a non-judgemental controlled and safe environment.
- To enable Chance to Dance to reach yet more people in the community.
- To continue to demonstrate ‘good practice’ to the changing group of able bodied dancers, thus facilitating dissemination of the same.
This is achieved through dance workshops on a regular basis during term time. The dance sessions last 90 minutes, followed by a 30 minute feedback session and discussion. Taking part in community dance performances as appropriate.
Chance to Dance is organised in close conjunction with, and support of The Horizon Resource Centre, Cosham, and works closely with community groups throughout the city, to facilitate a policy of access and integration.
